Jack And The Beanstalk

This story was a perfect fit with our inquiry on seeds. The children were fascinated by Jack and his adventures! Hopefully you got a feel for your child's love of this story (and his/her knowledge of the characters, storyline, etc.) when your child brought home his/her story stick bag this week and retold the story at home. Retell is a very important comprehension skill. Please discuss stories after you read them with your child and ask him/her to retell the events of the stories.

Our activities related to this story don't end with this collage! Stay tuned for more posts!

Windy Day = Fun with Kites!

We had so much fun learning about wind and flying kites last week. Our big buddies helped us make kites out of plastic bags and we flew them in our school yard.

This is the kite that sparked our excitement for kite-flying!  Last Monday it was very windy and we flew this kite during recess.  The children were fascinated by it!

Thanks for the Paper Towel Rolls! Keep sending them in please!

The children started making "marble runs" and they are having a ball with them! It is awesome to see the children planning and creating together. This project also has a perfect connection to our Earth Day discussions related to re-using materials.  Yesterday they started with a small design in our classroom. Today they moved their work out into the hallway because they needed more space! They did a fantastic job!
